Episode Transcript

Hello, and welcome to this episode.

I'm Mike Ryan.  In this episode, we're addressing a common question I frequently encounter in the salon.  "Do I need to shampoo after a sweaty work out?" It's a common question that has a lot of conflicting information out there.

So, let me simplify the answer for you. Many believe they must shampoo every day, but that's not the case. I have an episode where I dive into the intriguing topic sweat, odor and bacteria, which is a must-listen for a detailed explanation of what truly causes bad odor.

Now, keeping it straightforward, here's what you need to know: Stick to your shampoo routine, whether it's every 2-3 days or extending it to four days.  You can soap the rest of your body while keeping the shampoo off your hair if it's not within your routine.  On non-shampoo days, a simple rinse is perfectly adequate.

Remember, sweat is 95 percent water which makes it water soluble and it will wash out without shampoo.  What stays behind from the sweat is a bit of the salts, which are mostly sodium and potassium.  Both of which soften your hair and help to give texture similar to what sea water does.   That's why sea salt is sold for hair product.

I have given this advice to thousands of customer who have trusted me with their hair and have followed my directions.  I'm lucky to see the results for myself when my clients return and hear about how they feel about their new routine and how it has shaped their hair for the better.

I'm confident that this advice works for everyone whether you have straight, wavy, curly, short or long hair.  I would love to hear about any of your own challenges and would hope that the advice in my podcasts on hair care can become a part of your routine.  Please click subscribe and listen to the rest of my podcasts.
